Create Day to Night Animations in After Effects

Make sure that all your objects are separated in your timeline.
To most objects, we can apply the Color Balance HLS effect and then keyframe the Hue and lightness values to change the color.
For solid color objects, use the fill or gradient ramp effects to change the color of the object from day to night.
To help sell the day to night effect, animate the opacity of specific objects that can only be shown only during the day or only during the night.
Lastly, if you’re working with a sky, make sure to animate the position of the sun and moon to only appear during their cycle.
